Objectives of this Role

  • Develop comprehensive documentation for internal and external developers published via our web portal
  • Possess a deep understanding of technical systems and the ability to translate that knowledge into simple, polished, and engaging content
  • Develop and maintain a detailed catalog of developer reference materials and tutorials that describe the process for consuming our APIs and associated data models

Daily And Monthly Responsibilities

  • Independently research, write, and edit new and existing API content, working closely with various feature teams to understand system requirements
  • Work with team leads and individual contributors to improve the documentation process for capturing ongoing changes
  • Contribute to processes, standards, and best practices for the writing team
  • Participate in a team-defined Agile workflow for completing all work

Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or communication discipline
  • 2-4 years of industry experience writing API documentation for developers
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics
  • Familiarity with open-source platforms and authoring/publishing tools for a "docs-as-code" approach using OAS processors, such as SwaggerHub, Stoplight, Readme.io, ReDoc, or Netlify
  • Experience using static site generators, such as Gatsby.js
  • Experience using text-to-html authoring tools such as Markdown
  • Experience using GIT to manage asynchronous collaboration across large teams
  • Ability to understand code examples in Java and/or JavaScript
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating tutorials for developers
  • Understanding of multiple programming languages, such as Java or JavaScript
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with an eye for prioritization
  • Previous software development experience
  • Familiarity with image capture software
