We are looking for a Technical Writer who is passionate about creating crystal clear content that conveys complex concepts quickly and easily! The Technical Writer is responsible for creating original technical content for our public facing documentation. They collaborate with our other divisions during planning, development, testing and distribution of all technical content, including: user manuals, training materials, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Create original technical content, taking abstract concepts and grounding them in relatable language that doesn’t lose its technical impact
  • Understanding our audience and developing content for them.
  • Communicate professionally and technically with Software Engineering and other internal subject matter experts
  • Stay current with new technologies and practices in technical communications
  • Combine internal sources with relevant external information to produce original content
  • Improve readability by visually assessing and adjusting technical documents for style and format
  • Understand Ignition user interfaces and recognize general terminology

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English (with an emphasis on technical writing) Computer Science, or a related field highly preferred
  • 2+ years of successful technical writing skills
  • Familiarity with modern web technologies and the ability to use and modify HTML documents and leverage CSS
  • Experience with written content editing software: Word, Confluence, Framemaker
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
  • Knowledge of programming and software development preferred, but not essential
  • Positive interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to complete Ignition Core Certification within a month of hire (training provided)
