Job Summary:

Tripwire is looking for a Technical Writer to join our TechPubs team and collaborate with peers in R&D and Support to develop and deliver end-user documentation for sophisticated, enterprise-level applications. Tripwire technology is complex and requires a high degree of technical understanding on the part of the writer. To complete documentation deliverables, the writer must be willing and able to independently research, test, and configure the software. The writer must also be adept at multi-tasking and willing to adapt to shifting priorities dictated by a fast-paced, software-development environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Independently research, write, and format print and online documentation, including user guides, knowledge base articles, installation guides, reference guides, help systems, and a variety of other deliverables.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Support, Customer Experience, and Marketing stakeholders to understand customer needs and develop content that enables customer success.
  • Communicate with other writers, as well as developers and QA and Support personnel.
  • Ensure documentation deliverables are technically accurate and in compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure that each deliverable successfully completes the benchmarks in Tripwire's documentation-review cycle.
  • Design and create graphics, such as diagrams, flowcharts, and screenshots.


Required Skills and Experience

 

  • An energetic, articulate, and conscientious self-starter with at least 3 years of experience documenting and/or supporting complex enterprise products.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, a team player, problem solver, and effective communicator.
  • Strong editing skills with a strong eye for detail.
  • Ability to independently learn a variety of software applications, including documentation-related programs, a file-management system, and an Agile, project-management application.
  • Able and willing to follow existing, company-defined documentation standards.
  • Able and willing to interact with developers, QA personnel, and other parties involved in the documentation cycle.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience with MadCap Flare.
  • Experience with Paint Shop Pro, Visio, MS Excel, MS Word, HTML, Adobe Acrobat, and MadCap Analyzer.
  • Experience with single-sourcing and task-based documentation.
  • Experience with Windows, UNIX, and Linux platforms.
