Job Description

The Guidebook Administrator is responsible for driving and supporting the ConstructConnect Guidebook initiative.   The ConstructConnect Guidebook is the central location for all documentation that drives how we run the company. The Guidebook helps us establish guidelines and builds a framework to support collaboration, consistency, and error-proofing. It helps us to ensure we spend our time building processes and tools that empower our teams and enable deeper understanding of the business. We’ve adopted a "Guidebook First" mentality, which enforces documenting all our key processes and activities in a single location, and doing it not as an afterthought, but right from the start. Our approach is inspired by, and sometimes copied from, a company called GitLab.

The Guidebook Administrator will support composition of clear and coherent documentation of company policies, operating procedures, and technical information, as well as train users on the Guidebook purpose, process, features, and style guide. This position will be at the center of helping to lead a company-wide initiative and will have the opportunity to collaborate with team members across the organization, learn new processes, and identify opportunities to improve existing processes & documentation.

Your Day to Day Essential Duties

  • Develops a thorough understanding of the audience and the documentation required by meeting with colleagues and working with managers to discuss documentation requirements
  • Determines the clearest and most logical way to present information for consistency in documentation and writes and edits information accordingly
  • Remains up to date on technological features and capabilities relevant to the Guidebook strategy and helps drive adoption of those features across the company
  • Trains and supports skills development for all Guidebook scribes across the organization · Regularly reviews documentation to ensure all documentation is current and ensure consistency with best practices and our internal style guide
  • Revises, edits, or updates instructions, technical information, and other content as necessary
  • Creates, adapts to, and follows project schedules and deadlines

What You Bring to the Team

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a professional office environment
  • Proven working experience in technical writing and documentation
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation by paying close attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly grasp processes and procedures and make them easily understandable in text
  • Ability to clearly articulate / communicate a message both verbally and through text
  • Excellent written skills
  • Familiar with Bitbucket, GIT, Markdown, Confluence and JIRA
