Job Description

As a Technical Writer at Circonus you’ll combine your writing skills with your love of technology. Your responsibilities will largely revolve around creating technical content to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner for our highly technical audience of developers and engineers. In particular, we’re seeking someone comfortable researching new technologies, learning how to use them, and reducing their configuration and behavior into a clear copy.

Responsibilities

    • Work in the home office in Fulton, Maryland or remotely (US only)
    • Propose, research, and write content for our highly technical audience, such as: eBooks, guides, primers and tutorials, user manuals and training materials, whitepapers and reference guides, FAQ pages and release notes, customer case studies, and other content types that are technical in nature
    • Write or manipulate code samples to support content
    • Edit, clarify, and proofread content and documentation produced by non-writers, and mentor to improve their writing skills
    • Collaborate with our product and engineering teams to plan and produce documentation
    • Work as part of a cross-functional team including engineers, designers and copywriters to create a consistent, integrated brand perception and positive user-experience
    • Continuously monitor and improve content to promote reader engagement
    • Establish a style guide to help promote best practices and consistency

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
    • 5-7 years technical writing experience, preferably in a SaaS environment
    • Fluency producing documentation targeted at developers or operations teams
    • Significant experience managing and working with WordPress or a similar CMS
    • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate technical concepts clearly and precisely
    • Experience with programming and the command-line
    • Prior experience working with software in development or test environments
    • Prior experience working closely with engineers, designers and copywriters on a daily basis

Nice To Have

    • Degree in Computer Science or similar technical field
    • Experience with HTML and/or Git/GitHub
    • Experience working with cloud infrastructure and services such as AWS, GCP or Azure
    • Knowledge and experience of online advertising (banners, landing pages, etc)
